WELCOME to the Yates ARC, a not-for-profit agency with a commitment to provide services to persons with developmental disabilities.

Our administrative offices are located at 235 North Avenue in Penn Yan, New York.

The Yates ARC is a Chapter of NYSARC, Inc., a 501(c)3 not for profit agency. Our local Board of Directors meets monthly to provide governance for the Yates Chapter. Yates Chapter operations are directed by the Executive Director.

YATES ARC MISSION

It is the mission of the Yates ARC to help individuals with mental retardation, developmental and other disabilities achieve their maximum potential for independence and inclusion in the community. To this end, we will acquire and manage the resources necessary to accomplish our mission.

The Intake/Transition Coordinator is a support and resource to individuals and their families as they research which community services will best meet their needs today, and in the future.

YATES ARC VISION

The Yates ARC

  • Is a benchmark agency for managing and providing services for people with developmental and other disabilities.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

INDEPENDENCE - People served shall be as independent as possible and determine the direction of their own life.
INCLUSION - People served have opportunities to engage in experiences and activities with those who are not disabled. The person should relate to his/her family, friends and communities when and how they choose, consistent with the rights and wishes of others.
INDIVIDUALIZATION - People served are given meaningful choices, respected, addressed and provided services in terms of their unique and valued individuality. A person shall have the opportunity to such choices that do not compromise health and safety, and such choices shall be respected and valued.
PRODUCTIVITY - People are provided opportunities to make an increasingly meaningful contribution to their community.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY - Each of us at the Yates ARC is obligated to ask why and follow through to conclusion in areas of concern to those we serve.
INFORMED CHOICE - Each of us is obligated to take all significant facts into consideration to make the best decisions possible.
ENVIRONMENT - The Yates ARC will provide a positive, respectful, safe and welcoming environment for the people we serve. People will have the opportunity to communicate their feelings, including fears, and have them addressed, and not be subjected to feat of harm or reprisal in connection with the provision of supports and services.
PERSON CENTERED - A Person Centered approach will be used by the Yates ARC to the benefit of the people we serve.
